Easy Summer – Chic Denim Skirt and Graphic Tee

The denim love continues with this classic skirt. One that is timeless, best of budget, and quintessential summer.

Continuing the theme of denim this summer, we touched on high-waisted jeans and now to denim skirts. A classic denim skirt is like a great friend. Reliable, easygoing, and no matter how long time has passed you can always pick up right where you left off. It’s one of those closet pieces that we can always count on. And moreover, it’s a great transition to fall (with an oversized sweater and boots) as well!

An easy summer outfit that can take us from office casual workdays to after work hours. I swapped out my black pumps for strappy summer sandals for an evening touch. A comfy relaxed pairing that is quintessential summer.

As you know, I love fashion. I’m very lucky to call it my job for the last 10 years. And I’m a strong believer that fashion should be available to everyone. I always get excited when I see items that are high quality at great prices. Like this denim skirt or these high-waisted jeans or these strappy summer sandals… all are versatile summer pieces that can be worn over and over again for many seasons. And the best part, they are affordable and truly best of budget. It’s one of the many things that I appreciate about Walmart Fashion. I’m always curious to see what they have next season, especially as we approach fall (my favorite fashion dressing season!).

I hope you enjoy this classic outfit and post. Thank you so much for reading and special thanks to Walmart for partnering on this post!

  • Crisp, Fresh, and Sleek for Winter

Crisp, Fresh, and Sleek for Winter

Winter whites! It’s like a palate cleanser for fashion. Crisp, fresh, and so chic!

I love monochromatic looks. They create such great harmonious color combinations and are very pleasing to the eye. To add depth and interest to monochromatic pairings, I love mixing strong elements of prints and textures. This outfit is a symphony of all of my favorites – faux fur, snake print, and soft knit anchored by ivory and gray colors.

Unlike leopard print, I find snake print to be a little intimidating. The rosette pattern on leo prints has a charming floral-like quality, which makes them soft, feminine, and easy to pair with most outfits. On the other hand, snakeskin patterns are quite sharp and pulsating, which makes them more intense and harder to pair with certain looks. Still, I love playing with different patterns and textures. To soften the snakeskin print, I like pairing them with neutral colors and soft fabrics (like faux fur, chunky knits, or delicate silk).

I hope you enjoy this styling and location! Central Park is beautiful this time of the year. Hope you had a great Christmas and happy holidays! Wishing you nothing but the best. The best memories, the best moments, and the best this world has to offer.

  • Winter in Ruffles and Plaid

    Winter in Ruffles and Plaid

As you probably already know, I’m a huge fan of taking a clothing item and restyling it as much as possible to maximize value. The perfect example is this gold ruffle top.

I bought this ruffle blouse with me to Marrakech and wore it as a summer piece with gladiator sandals . I’m styling the same piece as a winter look with boots and a plaid blazer today. The weather has been really nice in NYC recently, so three layers (thermal + yellow ruffle blouse + wool blazer) is good enough. I really love the splashes of burgundy with gold. It’s such a warm yet striking autumn/winter color combination. And the look is not complete without a touch of holiday. Tada, a velvet braided headband!

Wishing you a great holiday full of laughter, love, and peace! Thank you so much for reading!

  • Sparkle and Shine, Holiday Outfits That You’ll Love

Sparkle and Shine, Holiday Outfits That You’ll Love

From NYC to LA, a little sparkle and shine this holiday season!

Some sparkle is almost mandatory for this time of the year. I love a dash of shine, but am not an over-the-top sparkle and shine type of girl. A little goes a long way, so I tend to stick with a statement piece and pair other items around it. These two outfits have subtle shine!

For my NYC outfit, the star of the show is this velvet embellished dress . It’s lush with the perfect amount of shine! And it’s easy to style with nude pumps or black booties. A close second to the star are these slouchy boots. It’s honestly one of my favorite purchases of the year. Beyond comfortable (I’ve walked hours in them!), super versatile, and so chic! Suede slouchy boots have been a runway favorite for many seasons, and these boots are right up that alley with the same shape and attitude.

For my LA outfit, a little sparkle on the bottom and loads of texture on top. This metallic skirt is so much fun. It’s sleek with an all-black outfit and also beautiful with a white turtleneck and ivory coat. And now this textured sweater! Incredibly fluffy and soft, this sweater is definitely a winter favorite! It pairs so well with a skirt for a dressy look and also with jeans for a casual weekend vibe.

I hope you enjoy the looks and happy holidays! Wishing you loads of laughter and holiday sparkle this season! As always, thank you so much for reading!

  • Timeless Classics, Twinning with Him in Leather Jackets

Timeless Classics, Twinning with Him in Leather Jackets

Timeless classics, both for him and us… a great leather jacket!

I know it sounds cheesy, but we love twinning! We have similar leather jackets, trench coats, and shearling jackets. For the shearling jacket, I bought the mens version and tailored it to my frame. That’s how much I loved it! We have similar taste in fashion, so we end up shopping for each other quite often and getting similar styles so we can have these fun twinning moments!

His leather jacket is by Schott NYC and it’s truly a timeless piece. The brand is over 100 years old, and in 1925, Schott NYC was the first clothier to put a zipper on a jacket. It’s also one of the first clothing brands to create a leather motorcycle jacket in 1928. Talk about classic! And this Schott NYC leather jacket is all types of fun… Epaulets with star details, front angled zip pockets, snap flap coin pocket, fully lined with thick quilted lining, and more!

My faux leather jacket is from BLANKNYC. The brand is a little over 10 years old and this particular piece is one of my favorites. I’ve had this jacket for over 3+ years now and it’s still my go-to piece. It’s tailored perfectly at the waistline and has an asymmetric drop collar that I love!

It’s so much fun learning about these brands! Nordstrom is still my first destination to learn, browse, and shop for mens pieces. I appreciate that they offer classic and contemporary brands for mens, and that they offer tailoring services in every store to make sure the pieces fit perfectly. An inch or two off the bottom and/or a tad bit shorter on the sleeves can make a huge difference on a jacket or coat!

Happy holidays everyone and I hope you enjoy this twin styling and photo story. Hope you had a great weekend and thank you so much for reading!

  • Mad for Checks, Winter Layering in NYC

Mad for Checks, Winter Layering in NYC

And we’re back in NYC! Back to reality and back to the cold!

Oh boy! Colin and I sure miss the food and weather in Morocco right now! Even though we were in Morocco in the wintertime, it felt like autumn to us. A cozy low 70° in the afternoon and low 60° at night. Now, it’s a 30° hoping for no wind. We were pretty jet lagged when we got home. Nothing kitty cuddles couldn’t cure though!

One of the best things I’ve learned living in New York and in cold places in general is that a faux fur vest or shearling vest is a great investment. It doubles up as an inside or outside layering piece, and overall creates such a chic winter look. And more importantly, it keeps you warm. Very warm.

I’ve been searching for metallic boots for a very long time and was so happy when I saw these. I’m usually not a glitter or metallic girl, but love love these textures for the holidays. They just get you in the holiday mood and spirit!

Happy holidays everyone and thank you so much for reading!

  • Holiday in Marrakech

    Holiday in Marrakech

Happy holidays everyone from beautiful Marrakech! We’re so sad to say good bye to Marrakech, but so grateful to end the year with this incredible trip.

Colin and I both travel very light. Colin’s stepmom was a flight attendant, so she taught him how to pack efficiently. And I’ve learned over the years not to overpack. I only bring the essentials with me, and for this trip, I packed a few dresses, my trusty sandals, and this beautiful bucket bag.

This Brahmin bucket bag is quite perfect. It’s a great size, light, has a handheld and shoulder option, and fits a lot. And I mean a lot. Which is perfect for traveling and everyday life. It can hold a water bottle, make-up pouch, sunglass case, small camera, and has pockets for a wallet, phone, and keys. I took it to the souks with me and was able to fit a Moroccan bottle holder and two small dishes in it!

In addition to its versatility, the most striking feature of this bag is the color. The rich emerald green shade is a standout color, but at the same time, beautiful for everyday. The glossy finish and croc-embossed texture elevates the classic bucket bag shape. It’s great with an all-black outfit, denim and white shirt look, floral dresses, crimson hues, and so much more.

I took this bag with me to all of the holiday dinners, excursions, and festivities on this trip. From morning coffee to mint tea to Moroccan beef with prunes tagine for dinner, it’s such a great travel companion and daily essential. A great piece to celebrate the holidays, receive on the holidays, and gift for this holiday season! Happy holidays everyone and thank you so much for reading!

  • Cold-Weather Styling Guide, Layering with Velvet & Plaid

Cold-Weather Styling Guide, Layering with Velvet & Plaid

Fall layering! The perfect time to play with rich textures and fun prints!

Velvet and plaid, I love this combination! It has an old world charm to it. And I love love a great velvet suit! Velvet suits are fun for the holidays, great as statement pieces, and so versatile when worn as separates. Breaking this suit apart, this velvet blazer is also great with jeans for a causal tailored look and these velvet pants pair so well with an oversized sweater for a cozy weekend look.

I’ve been looking to add a brown plaid coat to my wardrobe for a very long time. I believe a plaid coat is a must-have in every wardrobe. They’re incredible versatile! A great plaid coat can elevate an all black outfit, complement casual looks, and fun to dress up. The first place I always check is Nordstrom. I love seeing their contemporary and designer selections. Researching and browsing for a few weeks, I came across a couple of plaid coats and this one caught my eye.

This Sandro coat is so beautiful! I love the classic double-breasted style, the tailored fit, and the timeless camel color. This color is really great! A beautiful flattering and versatile brown with hints of light tan peeking through. This coat feels very menswear-inspired with its sharp lapels and strong shoulders, but cut with a soft hourglass shape.

Funny story… we actually don’t have a Nordstrom women’s store in Manhattan yet, but we do have a newly open men’s store near Central Park. Anyways, Colin and I walked into the men’s store, and after a very friendly greeting from the doorman, he said… I love your outfit. You look like you’re from Peaky Blinders (which by the way is Colin’s favorite show)! Colin and him became best friends. And I became best friends with the cologne isle.

I hope you’re having a great November and enjoying the holidays!

  • Candy and Flowers, Sharing a Beautiful Scent for Autumn

Candy and Flowers, Sharing a Beautiful Scent for Autumn

Candy and flowers! What a perfect pairing! A different type of candy today. One that lasts throughout the day and can be enjoyed over and over again. The grace and charm of this particular one comes in perfect timing. Beautiful for the holidays and beyond!

I’ve been a huge fan of Sephora since my college days, and am so happy to be partnering with them this holiday season. I go to Sephora for everything! Hair products, skincare items, color samples, the latest in clean beauty… seriously if they had cat food there, I’d live in Sephora! Another essential item that I go there for is perfume.

I think for women, we find our favorite scents through testing and discovering it on other people. What perfume are you wearing? It’s such a great conversation starter. The online version of that is this Fragrance Finder and reading the reviews. That’s how I discovered Prada Candy. I wanted something warm and sophisticated for autumn, winter, and the holidays. Prada Candy starts out sweet and airy like fresh cotton candy and then settles into a warm caramel latte type of scent. It’s one of those scents you want to hug on a cold night.

I think about scents the same way I think about fashion. This scent reminds me of a cozy fall outfit. Imagined it in causal form as an oversized cable turtleneck with jeans and sneakers grabbing coffee, and in dressy form as a velvet black dress with red lips and embellished heels. It works for day and night. And I love the rollerball option. It fits in your bag and great for travel!

I hope you enjoy Central Park and this candy and flower story. If you’re looking for a gift this holiday season for yourself, friends, and loved ones, give Prada Candy a try! The rollerball is such a great gift and stocking stuffer item as well!

We hope to share with you more Central Park magic before all of the fall foliage goes away. Happy holidays and thank you so much for reading!

  • Flower Girl

    Flower Girl

Enjoying the last days of summer in florals today. And what’s better than a floral piece? A floral set!

A sweet marigold color paired with floral prints, this Walmart top and skirt set makes dressing fun and effortless . Flutter sleeves with criss cross detailing in the back, this top can be restyled with a distressed denim skirt and casual sneakers to create another weekend look. And for autumn, this skirt with a light turtleneck and lace-up booties will make such a chic city look! Worn together or apart, this floral set is a great way to transition from summer to fall.

Two styling elements that I adore this summer (and honestly, every summer!) and love revisiting in the fall are gladiator sandals and Roman inspired jewelry. They both capture the essence of a carefree spirit. These Walmart studded ankle strap sandals are comfy and versatile. They pair so well with skirts, and for fall, I can’t wait to wear them with an off-the-shoulder chunky sweater and leather shorts.

And this is not the first time you’ve seen me in coin jewelry. I love love them! They’re beautiful as a stand alone piece and as a layering piece with other bracelets. This Roman charm bracelet is light and a great stacking piece.

Florals is one of the many trends I love for fall. Statement sleeves is another trend I can’t wait to embrace, plaid is a must this time of the year, and berry hues is the color darling of autumn.

Happy end of summer and I hope you enjoy the location and styling!
